Advice for Protection from COVID-19: A Letter from Dr. Allison
Separating fact from fiction can be difficult amongst the panic and fear of the global pandemic we are experiencing. I've put together my recommendations for you based on the CDC guidelines as well as sound naturopathic advice.
What can you do to protect yourself from COVID-19, per the CDC?
Clean hands at the door and at regular intervals
Create habits and reminders to avoid touching their face and cover coughs and sneezes
Disinfect surfaces like doorknobs, tables, and handrails regularly
Increase ventilation by opening windows or adjusting the air conditioning
Have healthy people in the household conduct themselves as if they were a significant risk to the person with underlying conditions. For example, wash hands frequently before interacting with the person, such as by feeding or caring for the person
If possible, provide a protected space for vulnerable household members. Vulnerable household members include the elderly and anyone with an underlying heart, lung, kidney disease or those undergoing immuno-suppressive treatment.
Ensure all utensils and surfaces are cleaned regularly
If there is a sick person in your home, add the following precautions:
Give sick members their own room if possible, and keep the door closed
Have only one family member care for them
Consider providing additional protections or more intensive care for household members over 65 years old or with underlying conditions
Additional Naturopathic Advice?
Take 2000-4000mg Vitamin C per day
Take 30-50mg of Zinc per day
Minimize refined sugar and refined foods
Eat a diet rich in whole foods, fruits and veggies
Get at least 8 hours of sleep per night
Reduce your stress any way you can
Run an Air Free AirPurifier (or other brand) in your home at all times.
Work from home as much as possible
Get fresh air outside everyday, exercise as you can
How are we keeping the clinic clean?
We run Air Free air sanitizers in every room in the clinic 24/7. These remove viruses, mold, bacteria, and chemical smells for the rooms.
We’re implementing recommended cleaning and disinfecting precautions, especially on high-touch surfaces.
We can do any Naturoapthic appointment via the phone instead of in person if you prefer.
If you have a cough, fever, are concerned you may be getting sick, and your appointment is in less than 24 hours, call the clinic to cancel. We will waive your missed appointment fee.
Take good care,
Allison Becker, ND, LAc
